As the regular season comes to a close, the Heisman race is starting to heat up.
HOT WHITE GIRL NOT INCLUDED.
Once again it is time to debate about the most prestigious trophy in "amateur" sports. The race for the Heisman Trophy is really exciting this year, and I want give you guys my opinion on who is going to win it. Now I know that season is far from over, but I just could not wait to talk about this. When I was a little boy, I used to play NCAA Football all the time and the one game mode that I always played was Race For The Heisman. Every year when the new game came out, that was the only mode that I played all the time. But enough about my crazy anti-social life, lets talk about the five hottest candidates for the Heisman:
NUMBER FIVE: FAMOUS JAMEIS
When it is all said and done, the story of Jameis Winston will probably be a great movie filled with a lot of ups and a lot of downs. Right now, his time at Florida State University on the field has been magical. While his numbers may not be as great as his numbers from his freshman year, the fact that he is still undefeated (23-0) is worth at least an invite back to New York for the Heisman Trophy presentation. I think the two things that will prevent him from winning it again will be the off the field issues and the decline in his stats. Remember, the only player to ever win the trophy twice was the great Archie Griffin in 74 and 75.
NUMBER FOUR: RAKEEM THE DREAM
Rakeem Cato has everything a player needs to win the Heisman:
Big numbers (2613 yds, 27 tds, 7 ints) check!
Undefeated team (Marshall is 10-0) check!
Wins over teams in the Power Five Conferences (nope) check...wait
The fact that his team has not played a single team from the Power Five Conferences is the reason why his team is not ranked in the College Football Playoffs Poll. His numbers are great, but the competition he has went up against is not as tough as the other candidates, but he should at least get an invite to New York.

NUMBER THREE: OH BOYKIN!
While his career has come out of nowhere, Trevone Boykin's stats (3021 yds, 24 tds, 5 ints) and his chance to lead his team to a Big 12 title is the reason why he could win the Heisman this year. While his team did struggle in a win against Kansas last week, Boykin has a chance to impress this weekend by lighting up the scoreboard against an improving Texas Longhorns team.
NUMBER TWO: GONE GORDON
After rushing for 408 yards against Nebraska ( I thought head coach Bo Pelini was known for defense) the buzz around Melvin Gordon is getting louder and louder. In today's era of throwing the ball all over the field, it is refreshing to see Wisconsin still stick to the running game and Melvin Gordon is doing what Wisconsin football running backs do best, run behind that big offensive line! While their chances of making the college football playoffs are slim (the Badgers are ranked 16th) Melvin still has chance to win the Heisman if he can get to the magic number of 2000 rushing yards and 30 touchdowns (1909 yds 23 tds)
NUMBER ONE: SUPER MARIOTA!
With his team ranked number two in the country and his touchdown to interception ratio is phenomenal (29 tds, 2 ints) all Marcus Mariota has to do is win out the regular season and win the Pac-12 championship game. The Heisman Trophy over the last decade has become a trophy that is awarded to the best quarterback on the best team in the country (Jameis Winston, Cam Newton, Sam Bradford, Troy Smith) and Marcus has a chance to join this list. Most voters for the Heisman also like to vote for a player that is capable of playing in the NFL at a high level, and I for one believe that Marcus will be successful in the NFL.
So if don't like the list you can always kiss my black (don't say it man, you need more readers), you can always tweet me or leave a comment!
